| AUBG Sets Tuition at $6375, down from $12050 |
[Oct. 13th, 2004|05:07 pm] |
Due to numerous questions regarding the recent Board of Trustees Resolution on the tuition for FY05-06, I am providing the following clarification.
Alex Alexandrov [AUBG CFO]
WHAT At its October 2004 meeting, the AUBG Board of Trustees approved the proposal of the administration to decrease the annual tuition fee from $12,050 to $6,375. As a result, Financial Aid Packages I, J, N, and R will disappear.
WHO The decision will affect both incoming and returning students. Affected students will not need to reapply for financial aid, their Fall 05 bills (to be distributed during the summer) will reflect the change, if any.
WHEN The decision will take effect for the 2005-2006 academic year (starting Fall 05 semester).
WHY This is done to improve AUBG recruitment efforts by communicating to prospective students what is the most they will be asked to pay.
HOW This decision is made possible due to the savings of the last two years and the improved collection on AUBG-funded student loans.
WOULD IT AFFECT ME? The change of tuition will not directly affect students on Financial Aid Packages A through H. It will affect students who are on Financial Aid Packages I, J, N, R, or are Full Pay. They will see their tuition bills lower than what they were expecting according to the projections on their Financial Aid Info Sheets ("green sheets"). |

| AUBG Faculty: Lost and Found, Part I |
[Oct. 13th, 2004|09:19 pm] |
One thing that all these different people have in common: "American University in Bulgaria" on their CV. At one point or another, they all taught or governed at AUBG. They have been gone for a while, but FlashNews brings them back in case you need a letter of recommendation or feel nostalgic.
